Chicago Rockford International Airport’s day trip to Mackinac Island, Mich., sold out in less than a day, according to the airport’s Web site. That means another special trip could be announced soon.

The June 27 trip will take 150 people to the tourist destination near the Upper Peninsula. It sold out in 22 hours, as did a July 27 trip to Niagara Falls.

Airport Executive Director Bob O’Brien said Wednesday that if the Michigan trip sold out, the airport would announce a new destination. It’s using a chartered plane that it has access to for a short time this summer for the trips.
