Have no fear, Starbucks stores in the Rock River Valley are here to stay.
The company is closing more than 600 underperforming stores through 2009, and none of the Rockford-area stores made the list. Starbucks is closing 25 Illinois stores, most of which are located in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
Starbucks has four locations in Rockford: 6239 E. State St.; 3001 N. Perryville Road; 7474 E. State St.; and 7200 Harrison Ave. (inside CherryVale Mall).
The coffee chain also has stores in Machesney Park and Roscoe, and two in Belvidere if you count the stand at the tollway oasis. The Barnes & Noble bookstore at CherryVale Mall also sells Starbucks coffee.
